What Are Giclee Prints?
Giclee (pronounced zhee-clay) prints are fine art reproductions of orginal paintings. Giclee prints are created on a variety of fine art media such as smooth or textured fine art paper, lithograph paper, plus matte paper, or artists canvas. The word "giclee", from the French language word "le gicleur" meaning "nozzle", or more specifically "gicler" meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray" was was coined by Jack Duganne, a printmaker working in the field, to represent any inkjet based digital print used as fine art. Giclee prints are created on archival quality printing systems using pigment based inks and specially formuated fine art printing media. This combination of inks and fine art media results in highly accurate reproductions of Bobbi's original paintings. The projected lifespan of Bobbi's giclee prints is 200+ years. Giclee reproductions may be offered for sale in the same size as the original painting, smaller than the original painting, or larger than the original painting at the discretion of the artist. Each Giclee print is personally inspected then numbered and signed by the artist. |
